Inspired by the Devonport peninsula and its jewel-like gardens, this six-week workshop invites students to observe, draw and paint botanical subjects with a focus on light, shadow and natural form.

Led by artist and tutor Verity Kindleysides, the sessions will include working outdoors en plein air, weather permitting, to study plants directly from nature, before continuing indoors using natural objects in the studio. A variety of materials will be used to explore different ways of capturing botanical subjects.

No experience is necessary. This workshop is designed to inspire creativity in a supportive studio environment.

Classes run every Thursday from 22 October to 26 November, 10:00am – 1:00pm. Tickets are $220.

Verity Kindleysides is a highly accomplished West Auckland artist and tutor. She studied at the Slade UCLA, the Royal Drawing School in London and Elam, completing her BFA in 2007. Her work has received multiple awards, including first prize in the Greater Auckland Art Awards 2018, Supreme Award in the Franklin Arts Festival 2016 and the Molly Morpeth Best Drawing Award in 2007.
