Promoter This competition is run by the Devonport Business Association (DBA) in partnership with Community Activator Taitonga. Contact: manager@devonport.co.nz, devonport.co.nz
Eligibility This competition is open to New Zealand residents aged 16 and under (tamariki). Entrants under 12 must include the name of a parent or guardian on their entry form. Employees of the DBA, associated partners, and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.
Promotion period The trail runs from Monday 8 June 2026 to Wednesday 8 July 2026. Entries close at 5pm on Wednesday 8 July 2026. Late entries will not be accepted.
How to enter To enter, participants must pick up an official entry form from Devonport Library at 2 Victoria Road, follow the trail and identify the nine official Matariki star artworks displayed in participating shop windows along Victoria Road, record the name of the business where each star was found, and submit the completed entry form to Devonport Library by the closing date. No purchase is necessary to enter. This competition is a free entry prize draw and is not subject to the Gambling Act 2003.
Entry conditions One entry per child. Correct identification of all nine official Matariki star artworks is required for a valid entry. Some businesses may have decorative stars or window displays that are not part of the official trail. Only the official school-designed artworks count. Incomplete, illegible, or fraudulent entries will not be accepted. The Promoter reserves the right to request proof of age. Entries where eligibility cannot be confirmed may be disqualified.
Prize One winner will receive a $300 voucher redeemable at a Devonport Business Association member business of their choice. A list of eligible member businesses is available at devonport.co.nz. The voucher is non-transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash, and must be redeemed within six months of issue.
Prize draw and notification The winner will be selected by random draw conducted by the DBA manager in the presence of an independent witness shortly after the closing date. The winner will be contacted by phone or email using the details provided on their entry form. If the winner cannot be contacted within 21 days of notification, or the prize is not claimed within 21 days of the winner being notified, the Promoter reserves the right to redraw. If a second winner cannot be contacted within a further 21 days, the prize will be forfeited.
General conditions The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entry deemed incomplete, fraudulent, or non-compliant. By entering, participants (or their parent or guardian, for entrants under 12) consent to the winner's first name and age being published on the DBA website, social media channels and local third-party media for up to six months following the draw, without compensation. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury arising from participation, except to the extent that liability cannot be excluded by law. The Promoter's decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these terms or cancel the competition at any time if circumstances require. This competition is governed by the laws of New Zealand and participants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
